Charity Requests:  Can You Help?
MCQA is often contacted with requests to help a charity or individual.  Currently the guild can not take on any additional ongoing projects however we will attempt to let members know how they might help those in need.  Please help where you can.
UP Home Health & Hospice
November is National Hospice Month and Paul Guindon of UPHHH is looking for quilters who might be willing to explore how a quilt(s) could be used to honor local hospice patients.  If you would like to learn more or work on this project, please contact Paul at 225-4545.
Haiti Quilt Supplies
At the April meeting one of our members told about a local man who has worked as a volunteer in Haiti for many years.  Currently he is interested in helping a group of Haitian women who make clothing items to sell at a local market as a means of teaching young girls to be independant as well as providing a means of supporting their families .  Please help by bringing to the next meeting one (1) yard pieces of brightly colored cotton fabric or any equipment items like scissors, measuring tapes, needles, thread, thimbles etc. that you no longer use.  If you have questions please contact MCQA board member Diane Darlington.

Thanks Erna!

Many thanks to long time guild member Erna Roever for her wonderful program at the March meeting on wool applique.  Erna not only provided all of us with great instructions, tips and techniques but also shared with us many of her completed wool applique pieces!  What an inspiration!  Many thanks Erna for sharing your talent with us!  You will see some of her work in the March 2010 Show & Tell link by clicking here.

Moons Over Marquette
Twelve members of the Explorers friendship group recently entered a series of quilts titled Moons Over Marquette in the Lake Superior Art Association 22nd annual Glacier Glide at Presque Isle. The quilts were based on the calendar months reflecting Native American or "Yooper" activites for each month. The quilts will be exhibited during the summer at Alley Kats Quilt Shop in Marquette, Peter White Public Library Gallery, The Wm. Bonifas Art Center in Escanaba and finally at the MCQA quilt show in October.  Additional pictures of the quilts may be seen at the Show & Tell web page, March 2010 link
